PROFILE

Our profile for a hand therapist is based on the EFSHT-profile.

A hand therapist must :

  • Have a very good knowledge of
    • The anatomy of the upper extremity
    • The pathology of the upper extremity (traumatic and congenital)
    • Clinical signs of every pathology
    • Surgical and non-surgical treatments

  • Being skilled in
    • Tests (range of motion, volumetric, force, sensibility, dexterity, pain, …)
    • Adequate, up to date and specific treatments on his domain of the rehabilitation for every specific pathology or injury.
    • Psycho-social aspects of the rehabilitation
    • Basic knowledge of thermoplastic splinting

  • Be prepared for doing self study, research, following meetings,... in order the give the patient the best treatment and/or advice.
