Our profile for a hand therapist is based on the EFSHT-profile.
A hand therapist must :
- Have a very good knowledge of
- The anatomy of the upper extremity
- The pathology of the upper extremity (traumatic and congenital)
- Clinical signs of every pathology
- Surgical and non-surgical treatments
- Being skilled in
- Tests (range of motion, volumetric, force, sensibility, dexterity, pain, …)
- Adequate, up to date and specific treatments on his domain of the rehabilitation for every specific pathology or injury.
- Psycho-social aspects of the rehabilitation
- Basic knowledge of thermoplastic splinting
- Be prepared for doing self study, research, following meetings,... in order the give the patient the best treatment and/or advice.
